The Highly Sensitive Person

Understanding Anxiety

As someone who has been highly sensitive my entire life, I have studied this trait to learn more about understanding and managing sensitivity, through to embracing and celebrating the gift that being highly sensitive is. I have spoken on dozens of radio shows and podcasts introducing the topic of sensitivity, particularly the trait known as being highly sensitive. Take the test to see if you are typically a highly sensitive person by clicking here.

Dr Elaine Aron is the pioneering researcher who commenced the study into sensitivity in 1991 and has published several books on the topic. To follow her work visit http://hsperson.com/

Over the past year I have been researched the connection between anxiety and sensitivity. So far the research is indicating that a very high percentage of people who are challenged by anxiety also appear to have the trait known as being Highly Sensitive. If this is you, then I encourage you to explore the resources on offer here to help you to understand your anxiety. From there, I can help you move into managing anxiety and ultimately embracing the many gifts this brings. Consider starting with the sensitivity test to see if like me, you too are Highly Sensitive. Take the test here.

Here I spoke of anxiety and sensitivity at the International Relationship Mastery Summit with Dr Allen Darbonne

Here are links to a few podcasts I have recorded about sensitivity

The Highly Sensitive Person :

As a child did you cry easily? Find yourself bullied? Get told often to ‘toughen up’ and ‘stop getting attention’? You may be part of the scientifically studied phenomenon known as HSP and HSS, of which 3% exhibit highly extroverted behaviour and 17% highly introverted behaviour. Learn how this hereditary condition often leads to self-sabotage, self-medication and difficult friendships, and how to navigate through the harshness of daily life when you’re feeling touchy, overwhelmed and highly emotional.

Surviving The World As A Sensitive Person:

Jane and Rebecca’s most popular episode ever, The HSP Person (No. #23), now has an hour-long Part
2 follow-up due to popular demand! Filled with tips on how to calm the senses and navigate situations and relationships in a highly-sensitive world, there’s also advice on how to relate to HSPs (and raise HSP children) if you’re non-HSP yourself.

The New Sensitivity:

Those of you who are interested in the Highly Sensitive Person research will be fascinated to hear Jane’s latest theory about the awakening sensitivity in a large part of the population. ‘Vulnerability’ has been a buzz word for some time now, but could the next wave of evolution be centred around people’s relationship with ‘Sensitivity’? And how is being ‘Sensitive’ different from being an empath, psychic, ADD, HSP and more?

Managing Anxiety

Do you or someone you love suffer from anxiety? With 18% of the western world experiencing anxiety and more than 40 million people in the US alone it’s time to address this situation with a greater awareness of what anxiety is, how it presents and what can be done to reduce or prevent it. Today’s episode Jane is joined by Amber Petty who like Jane has suffered from anxiety where they share stories, tips and tools to identify and reduce anxiety along with learning to embrace the gifts anxiety can bring.
